I am California Grubbin. A lady who loves, loves, LOVES food. I’m not a stranger to blogging but its been a while since I’ve been in the blogsphere.. I used to have a blog called the A spot but life spiraled out of control and I lost all inspiration to continue blogging. Since then, I’ve thought about food blogging but never took the steps to make it a reality. People always tell me I need to have a food blog because I love to EAT. Recently, I’ve been eating at different food spots to start my blog but tonight gave me the inspiration I needed to get serious about it.
This evening I dined at Roys Hawaiian Fusion in Newport Beach located in the Fashion Island Mall shopping center. Roy’s sent me a $25 dining certificate a while back and it was going to expire soon, so I decided to use it. Had a hectic day at work and a good meal and cocktail sounded like the perfect way to relax. I’ve been to Roys before in Palm Springs and I love it. The service was great. But I must say that the service at the Newport Beach location was impeccable. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted and shown to the bar for cocktails while my table was being prepared. It just happened to be Aloha Hour, Roy’s Happy Hour and I decided to get The Original Hawaiian Martini which was delish!!.. This drink was filled with Maui pineapples drenched in SKYY Vodka, Stoli Vanil Vodka, & Malibu Coconut Rum. The perfect after a long hard day at work cocktail.
When it was time for me to head over to the table, the manager Tim came and escorted me over. Tim was very pleasant and always had a smile on his face. He even pulled the chair out for me and placed the napkin on my lap. Shortly after I met my waitress Michelle who a sweetheart. She told me the specials and was very attentive to my needs. I was very please to receive a sample of the new Spring Rolls that Roys had. So good.. It was so good I forgot to snap a picture of it. But its a must try when you go there. My wait time wasn’t long and out came my favorite meal from Roys: The Grilled Hibachi Salmon with Japanese Citrus Ponzu Sauce.. Now.. I told myself that this time I was going to try something new but I’ve been craving Salmon from Roys so I had to fullfill the desire in my tummy. As usual my dinner was fantastic
Now funny moment, after my meal was boxed up and my bill was paid, Tim came up to me and asked if I was a Food Writer.. I wanted to laugh because I guess I gave myself away snapping pictures and constantly observing the restuarant while taking notes on my phone. I told him no but Tim if your reading this.. You were somewhat right.. I’m an ex blogger back on again blogger whose focus this time is food only. I didn’t want to tell you yes because my page wasn’t up and I don’t have any followers… yet… But little did Tim know.. he gave me the inspiration I needed to get this blog going. I left Roy’s energized not just from the food, but the overall experience. I will definitely return to this Roys location.
